Management Development Unit

The MD Unit offers a range of programmes that provide participants with a variety of learning and development opportunities and these are illustrated in the framework below:

Aimed at directors in Health and Social CareAimed at level 3 managers responsible for leading and managing servicesFor all professionals in HSC with at least 3 years experienceFor middle and senior managers in HSC who have at least 3 years managerial experiencefor nursing staff on bands 5 and 6For Senior Social Work Team LeadersFor current/aspiring middle managers with management experience and responsibility aimed at practising first line and middle managersFor those who are currently in or intending to move to a role with staff training responsibilitiesFor those who are new to a management roleFor staff on bands 2 – 4 who want to embark on a management careerFor those currently in or intending to move to a role with training responsibilitiesAimed at staff who are new to management roleFor those on bands 3-4 who want to embark on a management career

The MD Unit is commissioned by other health and social care organisations to lead and facilitate a number of regional development initiatives including:

  • Clinical Nurse Leadership Programme
  • Specialist Registrars Management Programme
  • HSC Management Training Scheme
  • Graduate Entry Scheme for Engineers
